Sean: Pajoalton Bajo

I've just returned from a expedition to Chiapas, Mexico. With the organization Escalera, a group of 30 of us climbed the intrepid hills outside of San Cristobal to a small indigenous village called Pajoalton Bajo. We set out to build a 6-room school, 5 brick stoves, and a soccer field. The people spoke little Spanish, having their own language, the Mayan dialect Tsotsil. The excursion was a huge success as we formed meaningful relations with the people, growing to love them. The project drew attention from local media and municipal leaders, as well as a visit at the school unveiling from the Chiapas governor's wife.
